Waimea Canyon is a spectacular beauty. Located on the south shore of the Kauai island, it is one of Hawaiʻi’s most remarkable geological formations. Known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”, it is home to many indigenous trees, plants, flowers, and birds. Waimea Canyon is Maryna’s most favorite place in all of Hawaii, a place where she feels most at home. Hiking through the swamps, groves of koa and redwoods, running on the ridges of volcanic mountains, or climbing waterfalls, Waimea is a true wonder. Inspired by the aromas experienced in the Canyon, this scent is a woody, mineral fragrance. The top note is a citrus accord of Lemon, and Grapefruit, enhanced by Pepper, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, and Vetiver.

The PARADISE GARDEN is MAHALo's exploration of the tropical Hawaiian Islands through the sensory journey of scents. The islands are as multi-faceted in their aromatic profile as nature herself. There is A LOT more to Hawaii than plumeria, coconuts, or jasmine. Here one gets an opportunity to become one with the scents of the ocean, volcanic earth, rainforest woodlands, dry planes, snow-capped mountains, exotic flower gardens, fruit orchards, and more. From briny salt, iodine, sulphur, tuberose, ginger, volcanic ash, tobacco, chocolate, pineapple…let your mind wander, and chances you will stumble on that scent here in Hawaii.

MAHALO's first two perfumes in this series highlight the woodlands of the Waimea canyon on Kauai, and the floral gardens of one of the exquisite blooms, the ylang ylang.

The PARADISE GARDEN perfumes take anywhere from three to six months to prepare. Each aromatic blend is held separately to mature and unify, allowing them to morph into their own unique symphony that emerges as the scents coalesce with time. Top note of the essence is blended first. Additional aromatic notes added in each following month, until the “whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts“, and the perfume is born.
